Darren Brennan BSc. (Hons) MSCSI MRICS (Managing Director)
Darren is a Chartered Building Surveyor (MSCSI MRICS) since 2004. He completed a Degree course in Building Surveying in DKIT and worked briefly as a Quantity Surveyor, before joining Thorntons Chartered Surveyors in 1998. Darren has over 20 years experience in the Construction and Building Surveying Industry. He is Managing Director and his experience spreads across all aspect of Building Surveying, with particular interest in pre-acquisition surveys, and advise, design and project management, project monitoring and also in Building Energy Ratings for the non-domestic sector. Darren has and continues to work on behalf of numerous Multi-Nationals, State Bodies, Private Companies, and individuals offering a full range of Building Surveying Services.
Tony Cullen MSCSI Accredited Conservation Surveyor MRICS (Director)
Tony has over 25 years of experience in the Construction and Surveying industry both in the UK and Ireland. Having worked in the UK from 1988, Tony qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1993. Tony worked initially for Lloyds of London in their Project Co-Ordination and Building Surveying Department. Tony has also worked with a number of Health and Local Authorities, including Building Surveying and Property Management firms in the Greater London area. Tony joined Thorntons in 200, and became a Director in 2003. Tony was the Chairman of the Building Surveying Division of the Society of Chartered Surveyors in 2008-2009.
Patrick Murray BSc. (Hon) Building Surveying – Director
Patrick has over 25 years of experience in Construction and Surveying and qualified as a Building Surveyor in 1997. Patrick previously worked in both the private and public sectors in Canada, Australia and the UK. Patrick’s area of expertise includes Property Management, Contract Administration and Property Refurbishment. Patrick joined Thornton in 2000 and was appointed Director in 2010. With a keen interest in renewable energy and energy conservation, Patrick’s experience can assist clients in significant reducing of their energy use and cost while achieving substantial improvements in the comfort of their residential or commercial property.
Barry Rafferty BSc MSCSI MRICS RICS Registered Valuer (Head of Valuation Department)
Barry is Chartered Valuation Surveyor (MSCSI MRICS) and a RICS Registered Valuer. Barry holds a degree in Property Valuation and Management. Barry has over 22 year’s property experience at all levels and he is currently Head of Valuations at Thorntons Chartered Surveyors. His department offers clients a full range of professional services including Residential and Commercial Red Book Valuations, Rent Reviews, CPO, Property Acquisitions, Rating Appeals, Court Case and Arbitration Hearings. Barry has extensive experience in the disposal, acquisition and valuation of Development Land both Residential and Commercial, Offices, Industrial, Retail and Agricultural Land.
The valuation department currently carry out valuations and professional services for numerous Multi-National, Semi-State bodies, Private Companies and all leading financial institutions.
Valerie King BSc.MRICS MSCSI Registered Valuer
Valerie is a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and an RICS Registered Valuer.
Shane Lynch BSc Assoc. SCSI Assoc. RICS Registered Valuer
Shane joined the Thornton’s team in 2015. He completed his degree in Building Surveying from Dundalk Institute of Technology in 2014 and worked as an estate agent for a brief period before joining Thornton’s. Shane is an Associate member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and an RICS Registered Valuer.
Shane has a varied work experience across the surveying industry. Shane primarily works as a Valuation Surveyor undertaking valuations of residential and commercial properties for various banks, lending institutions, housing agencies, government departments and private individuals. He also assists the Building Surveying department on a number of projects.
